Three places, three stories, but one thing in common: the traces of time and the passage of men... This is what the Toit de la Grande Arche de La Défense offers you with its latest exhibition, entitled Notre-Dame, Versailles, La Cité des 4000. Secrets of our heritage, which will be held from January 7. A retrospective around the work of photojournalistJean-Gabriel Barthélemy on these three iconic buildings of the region.
Large format photos that question"our memory, but also our understanding of the places and stories that took place there". At Notre-Dame, visitors are invited to walk through the maze before the fire in 2019 and discover the cracks, then also some shots after the fire.
In Versailles, we dive into the secrets of the building, through boudoirs, vestibules and hidden passages, for a unique journey into the daily life of the Court, to discover the private Versailles. An empty space, sometimes dusty, not having been visited for a long time, but giving nevertheless, through the play of light, a feeling of teeming life!
At the Cité des 4000 de La Courneuve, it is the"graphic harshness, but beautiful and uncluttered" that is highlighted here. 4000 housing units built by the city of Paris symbolizing"access to modern comfort for the working classes and the failure of the urban policy of the 1960s", and illustrating the"evil of the suburbs" abandoned by the elites. Three universes, three different immersions. To discover without further delay!
