From The Hobbit to The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R Tolkien 's work has left a lasting impression on generations of readers and moviegoers alike: his tales are firmly rooted in pop culture and have inspired a number of film adaptations, including Peter Jackson's two trilogies. Considered the father of fantasy, the famous British author is renowned for having imagined an extraordinarily complete fictional universe that has fascinated generation after generation.
At the Collège des Bernardins in Paris, you'll find a free exhibition that pays tribute to Tolkien's work, and showcases the skills and craftsmanship of Aubusson artisans. We invite you to join us from March 21 to May 18, 2025, to conquer the"Aubusson weaves Tolkien" exhibition.
In the beautiful medieval vaults of the Collège des Bernardins, you'll discover some 15 carpets and tapestries created by the Cité internationale de la tapisserie, featuring landscapes inspired by the world of J.R.R Tolkien. An original way to immerse yourself in the middle-earth!
These large tapestries reveal iconic characters, settings and scenes from the Middle-earth saga. These hand-crafted creations are reminiscent of the tapestries that once adorned castles: Tolkien 's work seems almost alive, historical, real...
The exhibition is accompanied by a special program of concerts, readings, films and an international symposium.
