A digital exhibition not to be missed! From March 16 to November 30, 2025, the Musée départemental de la Seine-et-Marne in Saint-Cyr-sur-Morin is presenting an exhibition dedicated to the artist Miguel Chevalier. Entitled Pixels Botaniques, this installation is part of an artistic approach begun in the late 1990s, based on the observation of the plant kingdom and its transposition into the digital universe. Theexhibition offers a visual and interactive experience, with works of art reacting to visitors' movements.
Miguel Chevalier has been developing herbariums and virtual gardens for several decades. In Pixels Botaniques, visitors can discover Extra-Natural, a digital creation that questions the interactions between real nature and nature recreated by technology. All the works on show seek to illustrate the forms that a conditioned or artificial nature might take, in a world where technological advances are increasingly influencing the living.
An exhibition that questions " the challenges of genetic manipulation: no one can predict what these flowers, free to crossbreed and reproduce ad infinitum, will produce...", explains the museum's website. The artist tackles the question of biodiversity and its conservation, while at the same time proposing a reflection on future interactions between man and his environment. Pixels Botaniques thus highlights a nature transformed by artifice, while questioning the conditions of a possible symbiosis between technology and ecology.
This exhibition is aimed at a public curious about the links between contemporary art and the environment, and echoes another of the artist's exhibitions, Pixels, at the Grand Palais Immersif. Shall we drop in?
