Fernand Léger from every angle... But above all through his successors and inspirations! From March 19 to July 20, 2025, the Musée du Luxembourg presents the exhibition Tous Léger! highlighting the works of major figures of New Realism and their dialogue with the American art scene. A rich itinerary of nearly 100 works awaits you for the occasion. We went along for the ride.

The popexhibition of the moment! From March 19 to July 20, 2025, the Musée du Luxembourg invites you to discover Tous Léger! a retrospective of the work of Ferdinand Léger and his successors and contemporaries, including Niki de Saint Phalle, Yves Klein, Raymond Hains and Keith Haring. The exhibition explores the artistic exchanges between emblematic figures of European New Realism, such as Yves Klein, Niki de Saint Phalle and Martial Raysse, and American artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring. An opportunity to observe how art has blended plastic innovation with representations of everyday life.

The fruit of an unprecedented partnership between two major collections on the Côte d'Azur, this exhibition brings together nearly 100 works. The exhibition is organized around a number of themes: the misappropriation of objects, the representation of the body and leisure activities, and the integration of art into public spaces. These themes provide a better understanding of the links between art and life, by highlighting everyday elements. As the Musée du Luxembourg points out, these artists aim to reveal " to the viewer the poetic beauty of our everyday lives ".

Our visit to the exhibition Tous Léger!:

An exhibition we were able to discover during a vernissage. As soon as you enter, you're inundated with colors and shapes that are sure to remind you of many things, especially if you're used to, or even love, Pop Art. For that's what the exhibition presents - without really presenting -: the advent of Pop Art years after Fernand Léger's work, through the prism of"New Realism" as defined by art critic Pierre Restany.

An exhibition that addresses our relationship with the object, but not only... It also focuses on the representation of the leisure society, art in the public space, and the "construction" of an accessible artistic vision that speaks to as many people as possible, and is always in tune with the times. The exhibition comes to a joyful close with a huge sculpture by Niki de Saint-Phalle, representing Miles Davis, echoing the abstract decor of Fernand Léger's Vulcania. Two artists who share the conviction that"art and beauty must flood life for the happiness of all".

And a retrospective, if ever there was one, demonstrating once again"the modernity, multidisciplinarity and visionary scope" of Fernand Léger's work. A must-see for fans of the movement... On the other hand, if you don't like contemporary art, don't bother.

By highlighting figures such as avant-garde pioneer Fernand Léger, and including works by Keith Haring, theexhibition illustrates the evolution of artistic practices in the 20th century. It invites us to reflect on how ordinary objects and gestures can be transformed into genuine works of art.
