The Hauts-de-Seine region boasts a rich heritage of public and private theaters, including two national drama centers, Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers and Théâtre de Gennevilliers, and a national stage, Théâtre 71 in Malakoff. From January 6 to November 14 2025, the Archives départementales are presenting a small exhibition, accessible free of charge, behind the scenes of live performance and artistic creation in the Alto-Seine region.
Immerse yourself in the little secrets of the region's theaters, in three spaces, through a scenographic journey combining props and archival documents drawn from the collections of the region's theaters, dating from 1963 to 2015. Manuscripts, books, letters, drawings, scores, photographs, plans, programs and posters, as well as costumes from the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers collection, will give you a first glimpse of the theatrical panorama of the Hauts-de-Seine, from texts to staging, sets and make-up.
Learn more about the machinery behind your favorite plays and shows, as the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers, next door to the archives and "Europe's largest suburban theater", reopens following renovation and expansion work.
