An original immersion in the world of tattooing... The gallery La Lison, a stone's throw from the famous tattoo parlour La Bête Humaine, invites you to discover its latest exhibition, La Peau Repensée, around the works of photographer Idan Wizen, from February 17 to March 14, 2023. A true "ode to the beauty of the most diverse bodies, inciting to go beyond the shackles and stereotypes of the standardized aestheticism", as the artist explains.
A tattoo whose image has evolved considerably, going from the story inscribed in the flesh to the body as a real masterpiece! And this is what Idan Wizen tries to put forward here, without casting and without retouching, through pictures of tattooed people in their simplest form. A photographic approach which wants to be an "ode to the beauty of the most diverse bodies", inviting the curious to "go beyond the shackles and stereotypes of the standardized aestheticism".
The exhibition also proposes a reflection on the tattooed person "taken out of any socio-cultural context", without name nor background. A person with a raw appearance, exposing here and there the expression of his individuality right on the skin, telling his story without words, through the ink. In total, 3000 people have passed under the lens ofIdan Wizen, whose thirty or so works "as surprising as they are authentic" are exhibited here, inviting us to "a discreet journey on bare bodies and rethought skins".
