A utopian animated and sound bestiary. Here is the unusual concept of the exhibition "Anima (ex) Musica" to be seen at the Musée de la Musique in Paris from next fall. From September 15, 2023 to January 7, 2024, come and discover old musical instruments that come back to life in the form of giant arthropods!

Notice to fans ofunusual exhibitions! After having already conquered the eyes and ears of many curious people all over France, the exhibition"Anima (ex) Musica" will arrive in Paris in September 2023. This time, the original concept imagined by the collective Tout / Reste / À / Faire will install its funny giant arthropods in the Musée de la Musique (Cité de la Musique/Philharmonie de Paris) from September 15, 2023 to January 7, 2024.

Imagine animated and sonorous animal creatures made from a multitude of musical instruments: this is the starting idea thought up by this incredible collective. Together, they decided to give new life to old musical instruments by dismantling them and then reassembling them in the form ofgiant arthropods.

Grasshoppers conceived from two pianos, a meloé made with 7 drums, 2 sticks, 5 cymbals, 1 tambourine and 1 bongo, or a scolopendre assembled from a grand piano, two upright pianos, a pneumatic piano, a Chinese mandolin (key), an accordion (windchest), two cellos (trestles) and two bells.... the examples are numerous, and all demonstrate the fascinating creation of these mechanical sculptures taking the form of insects and arachnids of all kinds.

Because, in addition to being impressive, these works are also animated and sound. According to their anatomy and the assemblies carried out, these creations are thus made mobile. Their movements take the form of micro-displacements, vibrations or undulations. To give them even more life, each creature is the subject of a musical composition whose orchestration refers to the instruments used to make it. Each score is triggered by the intrusion of the spectators in its space.

These fascinating sculptures that amaze young and old alike are imagined and designed by talented artist-sculptors-musicians, including Mathieu Desailly who draws and designs, Vincent Gadras in charge of the structure and animation, and David Chalmin who handles the sound part.

This utopian bestiary is presented at the Musée de la Musique in Paris. Rendezvous in the 19th district of the capital from September 12, 2023 to January 7, 2024 to discover"Anima (ex) Musica", an exhibition that also invites us to question the notions of overconsumption, recycling and, more generally, ecology.
