This spring, the Hangar Y reopens its doors in Meudon after many months of rehabilitation. A cultural destination, at the crossroads of art, science and nature, the site of this new Parisian living space is essentially based around the park, where an open-air art trail is proposed, and the Hangar Y, a huge building that hosts two major temporary exhibitions per year.

Described as a cultural venue at the crossroads of art, science, technology and nature, Hangar Y officially opens its doors on Wednesday March 22, 2023, after months of renovation work and more than 40 years of closure. Located in Meudon, in the Hauts-de-Seine region of France, Hangar Y immerses visitors in an incredible experience combining history and modernity, art and nature. [Read more]
For its inaugural exhibition, the Hangar Y wanted to pay tribute to the history of this place, the first airship workshop in the world. This spring, get ready to take the high road with the exhibition " In the air, flying machines ".
Conceived as a cabinet of curiosities, this exhibition is to be discovered from March 22 to September 10, 2023. For this great artistic event, Marie-Laure Bernadac, Curator of the exhibition, in collaboration with Blanche de Lestrange, Artistic Director of the Art Explora Foundation, has focused on how these means of elevation and transportation in the air have inspired artists.
For the occasion, the Hangar Y welcomes the works of more than 40 contemporary artists, from all continents, including André Robillard, Pierre Petit, Giovanni Galli, Jean Smilowski, Jorge Mendez Blake, Fiona Banner, Roman Signer, Camille Henrot, Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil...
More than 100 works are to be discovered in the immense building of the Hangar Y. Mixing videos, films, installations, collectibles, paintings, drawings, models, photos and archives, they trace the adventures of these passionate creators and lovers of flying objects of all kinds.
The exhibition unveils poetic paintings by Devambez and Spilliaert, but also a large deflated and suspended balloon by Bertrand Lavier, the flying bicycle of Gustav Mesmer, the poetic installation by Mohammad Hadi Rahnaward and his flying paper machines, or Latifa Echakhch 's kites made from wooden sticks and plastic waste, not to mention a wind tunnel model andAli Cherri's installation"The Fyling Machine".
So this spring, get ready to experience a fabulous journey through the air and discover the fascinating objects and collections around flying machines.
