Alberto Giacometti: The Nose is the next exhibition at theInstitut Giacometti. Between October 7, 2023 and January 7, 2024, the Foundation will be presenting an original exhibition dedicated to all versions of thework Le Nez.
The Alberto Giacometti: Le Nez exhibition features sculptures, drawings and archives. All the versions of Le Nez are on show, having been reworked at length by Alberto Giacometti. One of the works is too fragile to be transported, and will be on display via a novel virtual device. Five versions of Le Nez will be on show, including three different plaster models held by the Fondation Giacometti and the Centre Pompidou, and two bronzes on loan from the Justin Sun Collection. Other iconic works byAlberto Giacometti, illustrating his artistic reflection on death and his particular vision of frontal and profile representation, are also presented on this occasion.
Giacometti 's work is also highlighted by the presence ofworks by four other contemporary artists: Annette Messager, Rui Chafes, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Ange Leccia. They reinterpret the sculptor's iconic work with their own personal vision and characteristics.
This exhibition , which focuses on the relatively grotesque figure traditionally embodied by the nose, takes a fresh look at the place of caricature in Alberto Giacometti's artistic approach.
