Ready to take to the skies in your own spaceship? From October 23, 2023, a new permanentexhibition will be added to the events already underway on the conquest of space, offering visitors the chance to travel through the universe like a real astronaut! In five sections: exploring, traveling, transiting, staying and questioning, the general public will be able to take stock of the latest research, technologies and thinking around space missions, thanks in particular to the robots that enable us to explore them more effectively.
Accessible from age 8 upwards, this exhibition plunges us into the imaginary world of space, nurtured by literature, comic strips, cinema and TV series, for which public interest has been propelled by the various space missions, from the Moon landing to the arrival of the Perseverance robot on Mars! We travel back in time, through the space world of today and tomorrow, answering all your questions and satisfying your curiosity!
Visitors can discover objects that go where humans can't, for obvious reasons, allowing us to collect images, sounds, rock samples and anticipate the eventual arrival of humans. As you move through the exhibition, the whole family can don the space suit and take part in a mission of the utmost importance in an immersive show that takes you to Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, 628.3 million kilometers from Earth.
A journey from take-off to landing, where you'll discover technical and scientific elements to better understand reality, between propulsion, trajectory calculation, launchers, terrestrial gravity... Several models, including one of Ariane 6, complete the visit, before plunging into the heart of the Artemis program, which aims to take mankind back to the Moon. This is an opportunity to observe a replica of the I-HAB, the European habitat module for the Lunar Gateway space station, and the Orion space vehicle, in front of a 7-meter-diameter moon!
Finally, we travel into the future, set foot on the Moon and visit an established lunar base, putting ourselves in the shoes of the future astronauts who will live there. Thanks to a multimedia game, it's also possible to discover the daily life of a Martian base! In short, a truly spectacular plunge into the great universe that surrounds us!
