Ceramics just a stone's throw from Sacré-Coeur! La Halle Saint Pierre, a major player on the Parisian alternative cultural scene, in collaboration with HEY! modern art & pop culture, presents for the sixth time a dedicated exhibition, HEY! CERAMIQUE.S, from September 20, 2203 to August 14, 2024. Led by Martine Lusardy, the museum's director and curator of exhibitions, this event promises to offer a fresh look at ceramics, exploring its representation in pop culture through toart brut. Far from clichés and prevailing norms, this exhibition aims to highlight ceramic forms that combine imagination, sensitivity, poetry and innovation.
Historically perceived as a secondary art form, at the crossroads of art and craft, ceramics has managed to reinvent itself and gain recognition. It is this hybrid position that has served as the springboard for its revival. Contemporary master ceramists rely on a quasi-alchemical dimension, where the blurring and transcending of boundaries become central. They draw their inspiration from ancient traditions not out of nostalgia, but to refocus their creations on the material and its sensitive dimension. In this context, the fundamental elements - earth, water, air and fire - are not just tools, but become the very source of inspiration for responding to the aesthetic and psychological needs of the moment.
To better understand this art form, the exhibition HEY! CERAMIQUE.S invites visitors to immerse themselves in a universe where imagination and matter merge. The event offers a refreshing perspective, evoking the words of philosopher Bachelard on the capacity of the imagination to open up unexplored horizons. Ultimately, ceramics is more than just a discipline: it's an invitation to feel, touch and be moved. A unique experience at La Halle Saint Pierre not to be missed!
