A new season at the Palais de Tokyo! The versatile artist Lili Reynaud-Dewar invites herself to the Parisian museum with a captivating exhibition entitled Salut, je m'appelle Lili et nous sommes plusieurs, from October 19, 2023 to January 7, 2024. Delving into the ambiguous dimensions of artistic activity, theexhibition offers a profound reflection on the role of the artist in contemporary society. In two distinct sections, the artist explores the boundary between private and public life, questioning the status of the artist and his impact on the world around him.
The first part of theexhibition, freely accessible, presents a series of 19 episodes entitled Gruppo Petrolio. This collaborative project, inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini's book Pétrole, sheds unique light on the evils of the oil industry, technological progress and gentrification. Through this work, Lili Reynaud-Dewar engages in a profound reflection on the relationship between artistic production and political activism. This fictional-documentary comedy echoes contemporary challenges and raises essential questions about the artist's responsibility in shaping society.
The second part of the exhibition offers access to Lili Reynaud-Dewar's personal diary, in which she shares her experiences, thoughts and emotions related to the creation of the exhibition. This section, featuring a new body of work, explores the artist's creative process both inside and outside the Palais de Tokyo. By delving into his emotional and professional relationships, as well as national and international events, theexhibition becomes a mirror of the artist's life and interactions with the world, offering visitors an immersive and introspective experience.
