TheSwedish Institute is taking advantage of the occasion to welcome Misschiefs and its completely unusual installation christened " FINE DYING ".
Let's get started: Misschiefs is an independent, feminist platform founded in 2020 by French-Swedish artist Paola Bjäringer. By taking over empty premises in several cities, Misschiefs aims to offer visibility to artists and designers, providing them with genuine free creative spaces. Since its launch, Misschiefs has conceived and produced exhibitions, performances and workshops led by women and non-binary people all over the world.
This fall, Misschiefs takes over theSwedish Institute with its installation " FINE DYING ", on view from September 7 to October 1, 2023. FINE DYING " is a surprising twist on the idea of"Fine Dining", the refined art of the table.
Imagine a long, colorful table with a chic, extravagant atmosphere. But on closer inspection, we discover the other side of the coin, the violence lurking in the background, with sharp knives, staring eyes, chains and bloodstains. We're quickly caught up in the game, scrutinizing every detail and every unusual, gothic, punk object placed on the tablecloth.
Around this table? Four lit candles, the dinner menu hanging on the wall for you to leaf through, not forgetting the eerie music that is so important to Minna Palmqvist's incredible staging.
The objects, themselves unique creations, were created by a talented team of six offbeat artists and designers: Isa Andersson, ButchXFemme, Lotta Lampa, Anna Nordström, Maria Pita Guerreiro and Sara Szyber. As the installation is designed to evolve, French artist Popline Fichot, Sweden's Klara Fahrman and Norway's Yngvild Saeter have been invited to present their work in an adjoining room.
To discover this totally unusual installation, visit the Swedish Institute until October 1, 2023. And the good news is that admission is free!
For the curious, don't miss the opening of the exhibition on September 9 at 6pm, with music by DJ MrMaqs and performances by artists Vera Jörgensen and Grebnellaw.
