When art and new technologies meet... The Goethe-Institut de Paris transforms itself into a space for reflection and artistic innovation with thefree exhibition The Next Renaissance - A Taste of the Invisible, on view from May 13 to August 27, 2024. An event that invites the curious and art-lovers alike to plunge into a new era where art, technology and science merge to reveal what usually remains invisible. Conceived by the ZKM Karlsruhe in Germany, this exhibition is not only a tribute to Peter Weibel and his "Renaissance 3.0" project, but also sets the stage for a revolutionary artistic future.
Theexhibition draws on works of art originally presented in Karlsruhe, and adds a selection specially adapted to the Parisian context. Visitors can discover pieces such asOtto Beckman's"Imaginary Architectures", which question the evolution of art through the prism of advanced technologies. Works such as Helen Pynor 's"93% Human" offer a profound meditation on the living, while Thomas Feuerstein 's"METABOLICA Camp" directly interweaves science and art history with elements of science fiction. These works perfectly illustrate the idea of transcending artistic conventions to explore new creative forces and sensibilities.
Beyond its artistic aspect, The Next Renaissance is a crossroads of cultural and scientific innovation. This exhibition illustrates how collaboration between art and science can bring about profound changes, prompting our society to rethink its future. Embodying a"renaissance 3.0", it draws on the upheavals of the Italian Renaissance to stimulate a revolution in our understanding and interaction with the world. The Goethe-Institut, in collaboration withEIT Culture & Creativity and MSC, is thus offering a unique platform for change agents who aspire to redefine the boundaries between cultural and scientific disciplines.
Featuring international artists such as Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Manfred P. Kage and Joel Ong, The Next Renaissance - A Taste of the Invisible is a must-see experience for anyone interested in how art can reshape our reality. It's also an opportunity to see how scientific media art can open up new perspectives and influence our society in a lasting way.
