Located in Boulogne-Billancourt, the Musée Départemental Albert-Kahn houses an astonishing collection of photographs, which constitute the"archives of the planet": an inventory of living things, a phenomenal project whose aim was to immortalize and show the world as it was at the beginning of the 20th century.
Building on this heritage, the Musée Albert-Kahn has decided to create its own photography festival, to keep the collector's spirit and dream alive, while giving pride of place to contemporary artists. From June 1 to September 22, 2024, 11 contemporary photographers will be exhibiting their work at the museum as part of the Mondes en commun festival.
This festival creates links between past and present, between the museum's collections and the younger generation of photographers. Each artist has been asked to "represent reality", as he or she sees it, as he or she lives it. Humans and societies, nature, historical heritage, popular traditions: the world is revealed through these images on display in the museum garden.
A special prize is awarded to one of the participating photographers. This year, the professional jury awarded the prize to Thierry Ardouin, with a special mention for Anaïs Tondeur.
The guest artists for this 2024 edition:
An artistic and poetic rendezvous that should appeal to many photography enthusiasts!
