To mark the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, the China Sports Museum is organizing a free , never-before-seen exhibition at the Bastille Design Center, from July 22 to August 11, to share thehistory of sport in China with the general public! The 70 exhibits, some of which are being shown in the capital for the first time, will illustrate the culture and spirit of sport, and introduce visitors to the practice of sport in ancient China!
Thanks to works of art and archaeological objects, visitors will be able to observe sports such as "pot-shooting", "cuju", an ancient form of soccer recognized by FIFA, "chui- wan", a ball game played on foot with a stick, "baduanjin", gymnastic movements, the game of "shuttlecock", or dragon boats! These are all elements with which the French are unfamiliar, and whose representations come from exceptional collections, such as that in the palace of the Qing dynasty!
While ancient sports are given particular prominence, commemorative objects aim to show the contribution of China and its athletes to the Olympic Games and other sporting events, as well as their current prowess. During the exhibition, artistic performances, literary salons, university forums and other activities open to all are offered, to learn more about China's intangible cultural heritage!
