Do you know Nicéphore Niépce? His name is little known to the general public, but his work gave birth to a technology and an art form that is widely appreciated today, and practiced by many amateurs and professionals alike. The French inventor is considered one of the fathers of photography. And that's just the beginning!
To celebrate the bicentenary of the invention of photography, the Quai de la Photo is organizing an exhibition paying tribute to this art form, and to the revolutionary work of Nicéphore Niépce. From September 16 to December 22, 2024, come and admire this free exhibition, which traces the origins of photography.
Theinvention of photography can be attributed to several people: different techniques were explored, with each researcher experimenting with different components and methods. In 1824, Nicéphore Niépce succeeded in fixing the first permanent image. It was this innovation that enabled Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre to develop his daguerreotype!
The Quai de la Photo exhibition takes us behind the scenes of this invention, explaining the work and discoveries of Nicéphore Niépce. From heliography to the first cameras, from science to art, this exhibition takes us back to the origins of an exceptional technology that revolutionized society, art and image conservation.
Photography lovers, don't miss this free exhibition organized at the Quai de la Photo during this end of year 2024.
