Fashion lovers, collectors and haute couture enthusiasts, here's a new event to mark in your diary! The Quidam de Revel Collection will be unveiled at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr on September 28, 30 and October 1, 2024, prior to its auction. An opportunity to discover emblematic pieces of women's fashion, jewelry and accessories from the 1920s to 2000, from Chanel to Yves Saint Laurent, via Madame Grès, Madeleine Vionnet, and Elsa Schiaparelli.
In this free fashion exhibition, housed in the famous Maison de Ventes in Paris's 8th arrondissement, haute couture takes center stage alongside a major collection of pieces by designers from the 60s and 70s. At the heart of an elegant scenography, we linger over André Courrèges' "Space Age" jumpsuit (circa 1966), admire Yves Saint Laurent's trapeze dress adorned with white wool guipure (1966) and fall in love with Paco Rabanne's mini dress in gold vinyl pastilles (circa 1968).
Behind this collection? Emmanuelle and Philippe Harros, founders of the Quidam de Revel brand, a visionary duo who have been unearthing and preserving unique pieces since 1999. Their Parisian boutique has quickly become a benchmark for fashion, film and advertising professionals in search of rare pearls (museum pieces, 20th-century accessories, etc.).
This exhibition and sale also offers us a flashback to the seventies: from the flower power spirit of hippie culture, with its ethnic textiles and loose silhouettes, to the lurex of the disco era and women's pantsuits. A real revolution! Not to mention the adoption of denim for all occasions. Among the must-haves? A Biba faux fur coat (1970) or a Lanvin embroidered ensemble (1970), as well as other striking creations by Yves Saint Laurent or Pierre Cardin, to name but a few, that will thrill fans of this colorful decade.
