Following on from Jardin des Plantes, the Haussmann district and Rosa Bonheur, artist Michel Bassompierre 's animal figuresfind a new Parisian home. This time, Parisians and visitors alike are invited to theInterContinental Paris le Grand, a stone's throw from theOpéra Garnier, to discover theDouceur Animale exhibition until October 16, 2024.
Organized in tandem with WWF, this exhibition invites us to push open the doors of this legendary Parisian hotel to meet Michel Bassompierre's sculpted animals. From the main entrance to the immense, luminous glass roof, we find 17 works in bronze or Carrara marble, two of them monumental. Gorillas, pandas, bears, horses, elephants and even cats share the stage and let themselves be admired. This is also an opportunity to discover some of the works for the first time, including Yuan Meng, which depicts a mother panda and her cub, echoing the first panda to be born in France, at Beauval zoo.
To coincide with the exhibition, a special lecture will be held on October 2, 2024 from 7 to 9 pm in the hotel's Berlioz Salon. The evening will be hosted by Michel Bassompierre, with navigator Isabelle Autissier (WWF Honorary President) and film-maker Laurent Geslin, whose documentary will be screened during the evening. Sculptor Michel Bassompierre is also preparing for a live performance. Please note: this free event requires registration!
