When pointillism is modernized... The Sobering Galerie is devoting an exhibition to Italian artist Federico Pietrella, entitled " Nulla due volte, Nothing twice ", from October 19 to November 7, 2024. This new exhibition plunges us into the temporal universe of the artist, who, through his use of date stamps, captures the ephemeral in a singular way. The vernissage will take place on Saturday, October 19, providing an opportunity to discover the work of an artist who makes time his principal material. Each work becomes a visual meditation on the moment, its uniqueness and irreversibility.
Echoing the words of Wisława Szymborska, whose poem evokes the irrepetibility of emotions and moments, Pietrella materializes this philosophy in her art. Each meticulously applied date stamp constitutes an irreversible trace of a moment that will never return. His approach is both mechanical and organic, bringing to life everyday scenes - landscapes or interiors - through a multitude of superimposed dates. From a distance, his works may resemble photographs or paintings, but up close, they reveal a complexity of time.
Theexhibition is thus a contemporary reflection on time and memory, linking classical themes with a modern aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from thinkers such as Henri Bergson, Federico Pietrella shows that time is not simply measurable, but experienced. His works invite the viewer to confront this experience, making tangible an abstract notion.
