The Basilica of Saint-Denis is home to 32 queens of France, from Arégonde to Marie-Antoinette. Women with exceptional destinies who left their mark on French history, recalled in stained glass windows thatartist Sandra Reinflet used for her exhibition highlighting the"New Queens" of Saint-Denis, through photographic portraits. 31 women took part in the game, in the social structures of the city and Aubervilliers, recounting their inspiring journeys presented in this project.
Sandra Reinflet photographed and projected the Basilica's stained glass windows onto the women's bodies, creating a colorful, poetic mosaic on their skin. The result is a showcase for the resilience and courage of today's queens, through photography and texts that accompany their portraits, displayed on the forecourt in front of the monument and in the crypt of the royal necropolis.
At the end of the exhibition, visitors can become part of the exhibition in their own right, becoming the 32nd portrait for 32 queens, thanks to a projected stained-glass window behind which they can slip.
