Skateboard culture is coming to Paris for a brand-new, free exhibition lasting just two days. Entitled "Skateboard Culture L'exposition", this event awaits all lovers of this urban sliding sport, on Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8, 2024, in a gallery in the 3rd arrondissement.

Skateboarding takes center stage in Paris this fall! For two days only, come and discover the rich culture surrounding skateboarding at a free exhibition simply entitled " Skateboard Culture L'exposition ".

To be discovered on Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8, 2024 in a Marais gallery on rue du Temple, this installation follows the publication of the book "Skateboard Culture", available from Éditions du Chêne since November 6.

This is an opportunity to see for yourself the work of J. Grant Brittain, considered one of the most emblematic photographers of the 1970s new wave. Exhibited for the first time in France, the photographs highlight skate culture and provide a better understanding of the craze that has surrounded this practice for several decades.

Part sport, part artistic expression, skateboarding really took off in the 1970s. From its beginnings as a symbol of rebellion, skateboarding has gone on to become an integral part of fashion, photography, music, design and cinema, and a key element of pop culture.

Skateboarding, which has seen the emergence of big names such as Tony Hawk, Jay Adams and Rodney Mullen, has even been given pride of place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Much more than just a sport, skateboarding has become a symbol of belonging. Galerie 78 Temple, in the Marais district of Paris, invites you to discover this social symbol free of charge on December 7 and 8, 2024. In a 250 m² space, plunge into the world of skateboarding through a series of photos, films, objects and encounters, all curated by Morgan Bouvant and Sébastien Carayol.
