Michael Jackson, Janis Joplin, Snoop Dogg, Bob Marley, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, Prince... It's hard to come up with a better list of artists and singers. From November 4 to December 11, 2024, all these great music stars will be captured on Christian Rose's film, and on the walls of the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris.
TheRoger-Viollet agency and the library are organizing a free exhibition highlighting the work of Christian Rose, one of the world's leading music photographers. This photo exhibition features over twenty black-and-white and color shots, bringing to life the City of Light's iconic and magical concerts.
For 50 years, this photographer with a passion for black American music has scoured the capital's concert halls and music scenes, from the Chapelle des Lombards to the Pantin racecourse. With his camera, he immortalized the singers and musicians of jazz, rock and pop, giving us images full of life and energy of these legends of song. Thanks to his trained eye, he was able to spot and capture the precise moment when the artist's personality and the emotions of the concert were revealed.
This unique exhibition pays tribute not only to these exceptional singers, but also - and above all - to this highly talented photographer, who immortalizes magical moments for us.
Music and photography lovers, this free exhibition is for you! Come and see it at the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris.
