Did you know that Claude Debussy, the illustrious French composer, was born on August 22, 1862, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, in the Yvelines region of France? After years of restoration, the house in which he was born will once again open its doors to the public, transformed into a museum, as of Saturday, November 23, 2024, from Wednesday to Sunday, 2pm to 6pm. The program includes immersive scenography and musical programming, of course!
Listed as a historic monument and a"Maison des illustres", this 17th-century residence, where the composer's father ran an earthenware business, is now home to the Ducastel-Vera municipal museum and the musician's museum. After his death in 1918, it became a meeting place for his fans, and now houses the Ducastel-Vera municipal museum and the musician's museum. After passing through a pretty little inner courtyard and an ornate wooden staircase, you'll discover objects and photographs from all over the world to better understand the composer's creative process.
Exhibition rooms, an auditorium and a documentation center will enable the curious and music-lovers alike to immerse themselves in his world and celebrate his contribution to the history of music, through a more interactive scenography. The Debussy music season also resumes, with Lithuanian pianist Mūza Rubackytė as patron for concerts throughout the year.
