Located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, near the Parc Monceau, the Musée Nissim de Camondo is often overlooked by Parisians. This private mansion was built in 1912 for Moïse de Camondo, a banker and art collector. The wealthy financier installed his collections of 18th-century works of art, objets d'art, furniture and silverware here.
The museum's architecture is inspired by the Petit Trianon in Versailles. The interior is a faithful recreation of a Belle Epoque aristocratic residence.
The museum is home to many treasures... Which are not currently accessible. Since August 4, 2024, and until early 2026, the Musée Nissim de Camondo is entirely closed to the public. The art house is benefiting from a long phase of renovation work, scheduled to last over a year.
Details of the renovations were not disclosed. This century-old mansion needs regular maintenance to bring it up to current standards, so as to better preserve the works on display, and to be able to welcome the public in the best possible conditions.
So be patient: the Musée Nissim de Camondo is due to reopen in early 2026. In the meantime, art lovers can always visit the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, which is managed by the same group as the Musée Nissim de Camondo.
