The Musée d'Orsay has decided to fill us with wonder at the end of the year with a video mapping show entitled"Caillebotte en Lumière". From Thursday, December 5 to Saturday, December 7, 2024, the museum's historic façade becomes a giant screen where the world of Gustave Caillebotte comes to life. Free and open to all, this event transforms the quays of the Seine into a luminous artistic stage.
From December 5 at 5:30 pm, you'll be able to watch an 18-minute loop of projections designed by students in the "Graphic Motion Design" program at Gobelins, l'école de l'image. The project, part of an educational program running from 2023 to 2024, is freely inspired by the works of Caillebotte, while exploring current themes.
The 11 visual sequences, accompanied by music specially composed by students from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, harmonize with the architecture of the Seine-side façade.
The soundtrack, a key element of this immersive experience, is accessible via a dedicated platform, allowing everyone to immerse themselves in this sonic and visual universe from the quayside, particularly the Quai des Tuileries.
The projected creations go beyond the classical framework of Caillebotte's works. Emblematic characters and scenes inspired by his world come to life, transforming the museum's architecture. This sound and light show invites us to rediscover the Impressionist aesthetic in an innovative form, blending art and technology.
The screenings take place in a loop:
Access is free for all. With this project, the Musée d'Orsay continues to innovate by bringing works of art closer to modernity, while promoting the talents of young creators. An experience not to be missed, whether you're an art lover or just a stroller along the quays.
So, why not take an unusual and exceptional walk along the quays to discover Caillebotte?
