In this new year of 2025, the Pavillon Carré de Baudouin in Paris is dedicating an exhibition to the famous and talented photographer Kate Barry (1967-2013). Inevitably associated with her mother Jane Birkin and her half-sister Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kate Barry left her mark on the history of contemporary photography with her fashion shots, as well as her portraits of her family and numerous celebrities.
For this new exhibition, the Pavillon Carré de Baudouin presents a lesser-known facet of Kate Barry 's work: landscapes. Entitled " Interstices: Kate Barry and the landscape ", this installation reveals atmospheres imbued with poetry and subtlety, often melancholy. An opportunity to (re)discover Kate Barry's sensibility, as she takes a fresh look at marginal landscapes.
Kate Barry began her photographic career in 1996, and by the early 2000s had become a leading portrait and fashion photographer. In 2002, Kate Barry turned her attention to landscapes, which became her new " playground ".
She began with Breton landscapes, then developed a singular photographic style combining landscape and ruin. The artist chose to capture traces of vegetation in abandoned architecture. Kate Barry also travels extensively (Jordan, United States, India...), sometimes working alongside writer and journalist Jean Rolin.
From Friday, January 10 to Saturday, March 8, 2025, come and admire Kate Barry 's photographs of landscapes at this free, original exhibition at Le Carré de Baudouin.
