The Marché des Enfants Rouges, just a stone's throw from Rue de Bretagne, is the oldest market in Paris. To this day, Parisians of all ages gather here to shop and enjoy the stalls, restaurants, counters and gourmet terraces.

Almost every year, Paris sees the emergence of new food courts and gourmet halles, offering a wide range of gourmet delights. But there are some historic Parisian landmarks that have nothing to envy these new spots. And among them is the Marché des Enfants Rouges.

Popular with Parisians since its earliest days, the Marché des Enfants Rouges went through a period of decline in the 20th century. To protect this landmark of the capital, it was listed as a Historic Monument in 1982. A few years later, towards the end of the 90s, the Marché des Enfants Rouges was finally restored to its former glory.

Overlooking the rue de Bretagne, this is the oldest food market in the capital, no less! And since its creation in 1615, the Marché des Enfants Rouges has remained a popular spot in the capital. Even today, Parisians and well-informed tourists flock here to do a little shopping, but above all to enjoy the many gourmet spots to be found in this covered market.

Whether on the terrace, at the counter or on the go, here you can enjoy traditional French cuisine, bistronomic dishes, fresh oysters with a glass of white wine, or even get away from it all with a mint tea and Maghreb specialties such as the famous crêpes.
