The Marais is one of the most coveted districts in Paris. As soon as sunny days are back, the Place des Vosges is taken over by Parisians and tourists here to enjoy a break in the sun, while foodies rush to rue des Rosiers – to also enjoy a quick shopping spree. Enjoy a falafel sandwich on the go, have an ice cream or some delicious pastry and keep roaming around Paris streets.
But do you know that in this dynamic street, passersby often walk by a beautiful and quiet green place – without even knowing it – where they can enjoy a nice break and enjoy all the treats they got. Meet at 10 rue des Rosiers. There, you will see the entrance to the Jardin des Rosiers – Joseph Migneret.
Let us warn you right away, unlike what its name suggests, this is no rose garden. And yet, this little-known garden if very charming. Through that door, first walk by the remnants of the Wall of Philip II Augustus, the former city wall of Paris, and you can even see the interior of one of the towers. Then, several gardens open to you, each with their very own atmosphere.
The first part, more bucolic, unveils espaliered crops and beautiful flowerbeds, while the second one reveals a more shaded place with trees. The third space – clearer – provides a mini playground for children.
When I think that you could have missed this spot!
