During D23, held from August 9 to 11, 2024, Disney finally gave some news about the third zone of the Walt Disney Studios expansion. And it's a Lion King zone that will take its place between Avengers Campus and the Snow Queen zone, instead of the Star Wars zone initially announced. Here's an update!

While the third zone of the Walt Disney Studios expansion project at Disneyland Paris seemed uncertain (at least as far as the planned license was concerned), with communications no longer referring to the Star Wars zone but to the third zone, Disney finally shed some light on the matter at D23, held from August 9 to 11, 2024.

So, Star Wars or no Star Wars? The question has now been decided, and it is, as rumors suggested, a Lion King zone that will take its place between Avengers Campus, due to open in summer 2022, and the Snow Queen zone, due to open in 2026. What will this zone contain? In this respect, nothing changes from what was announced in the expansion plan, namely an attraction, a restaurant and other niceties.

In detail, there will be an attraction, more specifically a boat ride around the Disney classic with animatronics and all the rest. There will also be stores, a restaurant and a Meet & Greet.

For more details on this zone, however, we'll have to wait a little longer. Communication has been slow to come until now, due to the project's long lead time (last zone of the extension to be built), Covid, which has put the brakes on many projects due to various confinements, and the consequent economic crisis. Start of construction in 2025, if all goes well!
