The Fontainebleau forest can be traversed by vintage train or by hiker - with mythical trails such as the 25 bosses or the Gorges d'Apremont - but did you know that you can also hike on horseback? That's what the Fontainebleau tourist office is proposing, bringing together a number of equestrian centers in the area to help beginners and experienced riders, children and adults alike, discover this great forest of the Paris region.
But before you saddle up, it's a good idea to check your level, so you'll know which type of ride to go for: the tourist office has put together an explanatory chart to help you choose the ride that suits you best! You'll be able to discover the small village of Barbizon, famous for having inspired many painters, as well as different corners of the 25,000-hectare Fontainebleau forest! From introductory pony rides (for children) to longer rides lasting several hours (or a whole day), you can expect to pay from €25 to around €60 per person, depending on the stable and the type of ride you choose.
