Just 45 minutes from Paris, in the heart of the Pays de Fontainebleau, we set off to discover the Bo Ranch, a unique site in the middle of nowhere, but one that reveals many treasures. Its restaurant-bar, open from Wednesday to Sunday, offers a generous menu based on local produce, created by chef Alexandre Gibert. The venue is also a meeting point for equestrian enthusiasts, with international reining competitions and original events such as Happy Horse Hours.
When you arrive at the parking lot, you wonder what you've stumbled into. The first thing you see is the site's first riding arena, which has since had several babies. Claire and Grégory Morat' s initial ambition was to create a competition arena for this Western-style equestrian sport, which originated in the United States and is still little-known in France. Subsequently, the couple allowed themselves to be carried away by new developments, bringing life to this immense 60-hectare site.
We walk along the vast riding arena, where riders and horses sometimes train. Behind this majestic arena, the Club House is revealed, with its huge multiroom restaurant, which manages to remain welcoming and convivial. Inside, you'll discover a cosy atmosphere halfway between a mountain chalet and a straw-bale farmhouse. In summer, the panoramic terrace becomes the ideal place to enjoy a drink while admiring the sublime sunsets.
The Bo Ranch restaurant-bar is a pleasant surprise. Expecting simple bistro-style dishes, we end up discovering very fine dishes based on fresh produce in beautiful plates, all elegantly presented. The chef, who has worked in some fine establishments, likes to delight both our eyes and our taste buds.
In this warm atmosphere, you can enjoy signature dishes such as the BO Burger with home fries, caramelized ribs with Smoker or desserts like mi-cuit praliné. Local produce, often grown in the in-house kitchen garden, enhances every plate, guaranteeing freshness and authentic flavours. There's also an attractive list of cocktails and wines by the glass.
For our part, we started the meal with the pretty scallops in croustade on a bed of leek fondue and with the Ravioles with porcini mushrooms and chestnut chips.
For the main course, we were tempted by the generous Bo Burger with shredded beef, cooked for hours in the smoker, and by the pasta of the day, which honored the prawns that day.
We then finished the meal with the Café Très gourmand and the unmissable autumnal Petit Fontainebleau with its chestnut cream, an ideal sweet ending to the meal.
Prices range from €10 to €20 for starters, €18 to €30 for main courses, and €8 to €12 for desserts. Menus from €17 to €28 are available at lunchtime, and a €16 menu is available for children under 12. A varied wine list, from prestigious vintages to affordable options, completes the experience.
With its large wooden tables, sunny terrace and cosy clubhouse, it's the perfect place for family meals or evenings out with friends. Fun areas such as table soccer, table tennis and board games add a touch of conviviality for young and old alike.
Reining, a demanding and elegant discipline of equestrian dressage, is the soul of Bo Ranch. The venue hosts renowned competitions, attracting riders from all over the world. Happy Horse Hours, held on certain Wednesdays, provide an opportunity to dine while watching training sessions and chatting with riders.
Whether you're planning a wedding, an anniversary or a corporate seminar, Bo Ranch offers great flexibility, with a wide range of possible configurations. Its warm, elegant spaces can be adapted to suit any occasion, guaranteeing unforgettable memories.
The venue has also set up a clothing boutique. Here you can pick up original T-shirts and sweatshirts.
Whether you're looking for a romantic lunch, a family outing, or a venue for a private event such as a wedding or seminar, the Bo Ranch has something for everyone. Horse lovers will particularly appreciate the shows and competitions, while gourmets will be seduced by the quality of the food.
Bo Ranch is nestled in La Chapelle-la-Reine. It's open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 12pm to 10pm, and on Sundays, from 12pm to 4pm. Less than an hour from Paris, this unusual place is perfect for a nature getaway combining gastronomy, relaxation and equestrian discovery.
