On June 15, 2024, take a one-way ticket to the land of blue checks and franceshinas without even leaving the Île-de-France region: from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the outskirts of Houilles, in the Yvelines département.
The event comes exactly fifty years after the Carnation Revolution, on April 25 1974, when revolutionaries took control of Lisbon, peacefully forcing the incumbent Prime Minister, Marcelo Caetano, to resign after 48 years of dictatorship. To pay tribute to this newly independent country, the city of Paris had already organized a number of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this revolution.
For the occasion, the Place Michelet in Houilles will be hosting a Portuguese village of artisans and associations, where you can discover Portuguese traditions all day long. With demonstrations of traditional dances, concerts of Portuguese songs and gastronomic delights straight from this sunny land, you can experience a complete immersion in Portugal, without even having to leave the Île-de-France region!
Please note: free, supervised bicycle parking will be available at the Passage Durantin in Houilles for this major event.
So, on Saturday 15 June 2024, join us in Houilles to celebrate Portugal all day long!
