Did you know? The home of Cloclo - the famous 20th-century French variety singer (1939-1978) - is located in the Paris suburbs, in the Essonne département. Not far from the château and estate of Courances, renowned for its magnificent gardens, the Moulin de Dannemois is famous for having been the home of Claude François since 1964. Monday in the sun, Alexandrie Alexandra, Magnolias for ever... Enter the intimate world of the man who wrote these iconic hits, and who remains one of the leading artists of his generation.
A former mill dating back to the 12th century, the site was home to the singer's family and was used as a reception venue for his friends in an exceptional setting with a definite bucolic charm. After the singer's tragic death in 1978, the mill was abandoned. It was not until twenty years later that Marie-Claude, Pascal and Julien Lescure acquired it, with the aim of opening this artist's home to the general public.
The Moulin de Dannemois can now be visited on guided tours, with the interiors left "as they were", so you can discover Claude François' home unfiltered, with his personal objects, stage outfits... Then opt for a stroll through the Moulin's park, a pretty English garden designed by the singer. For show lovers, Le Moulin also offers lunch and dinner shows, hosted by Cloclo look-alike Philippe Gimilio. Tearoom, bar, restaurant and soon, hotel (opening soon): at the Moulin de Dannemois, everything is designed to immerse you in the world of Claude François.
