On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the Domaine de Chamarande is organizing a new edition of a highly original car race: welcome to the Domaine's soapbox race! After discovering the race in Dourdan and in a small village near Fontainebleau, it's at the Domaine de Chamarande, the largest public garden in the Essonne region, that you can now watch or, better still, take part in the race on Saturday, October 5.
Called "les 12s de Chamarande", the race is a family affair, open to all, young and old, from age 6 upwards. To take part, you'll need to design the car you'll be driving down the Domaine's royal driveway. Participation is entirely free and open to all, but you must register by e-mail (information below) and have your soapbox validated from 9am to 12pm on race day. You'll need to be creative and fast to win first prize in this highly unusual race: it's up to you!
If you're visiting the Domaine de Chamarande, don't miss out on this beautiful public garden and its 98 hectares of greenery: with its pretty marshes where you can go boating, the royal alley, its remarkable trees and the temporary exhibitions hanging in the château, there's enough to spend a day at the Domaine without getting bored! What's more, the site is directly accessible by public transport from Paris, with the RER C. So, are you ready to discover this unusual soap crate race at Chamarande?
