Nestled at the foot of the ruins of its fortified castle, Montfort l'Amaury is a small medieval town in the Yvelines region. Just a few of the village's highlights:

  • Saint-Pierre church: an architectural marvel with an impressive collection of 16th-century stained-glass windows.
  • The ramparts: remnants of 11th-century fortifications, witness to wars and invasions.
  • Porte Bardoul: emblematic of the 16th-century château, it pays tribute to the captain who built the stone ramparts.
  • The château: situated on a natural hillock, it offers a breathtaking view over the region. Although dismantled in the 14th century, three sections of wall still bear witness to its grandeur.
  • Anne de Bretagne tower: restored by Anne de Bretagne, this is a perfect example of the flamboyant Gothic style.
