At La Bascule we love tapas and wine! This neighborhood bar, nestled in the heart of the Montmartre hill in the discreet Durantin street, attracts both regulars and tourists. A warm and friendly spot in the heart of the 18th district that we highly recommend!
Located at the corner of the street, La Bascule has some shelves outside when the weather is nice, but people usually crowd in front of the entrance. The atmosphere is always there, and it often happens that we find ourselves chatting with the table next to us.
Because La Bascule is the spot that stays open and alive even when all the others are closed. The good thing is also that they serve food later than the others, to remember when our days drag on, and that anyway, we have to have dinner!
As for the taste buds, La Bascule has recently changed its menu, but we reassure you, it is still as delicious as ever. The planks of cold cuts and cheeses (16€) are very nice. For us, the hit of the menu is still the chorizo croquettes (6€) which are absolutely amazing! In addition, it gives the impression of being in Spain. There is also a delicious mushroom velouté with ravioli and truffle oil (8€), and a toasted brioche with black pudding (8€).
It's well served, and the prices remain reasonable. Honestly, if you share 3 tapas with two people, you have everything you need. Wines are good too. A delicious Languedoc (4€ a glass) will make your palate tingle for those who like full-bodied wines. The Petit Chablis (5€ a glass) also defends itself well.
La Bascule is a good address, so good that we almost kept it for ourselves, but hey, tapas are meant to be shared!
