Have you ever walked into a bar or restaurant and thought you'd love to take that beautiful armchair or big, rough wooden table home with you? We do!
Well, at Assemblages, that's literally what you can do, because this Marais wine bar doubles as a cabinetmaker's workshop, and all the beautiful furniture you see, you can buy to take home. Not bad, eh?
At the helm iscabinetmaker Eric Wilmot, a fine wine connoisseur who decided to open Assemblages to offer his creations a lovely, intimate setting, and to meet his public. During the day, he works in his workshop located at the heart of the space, behind a beautiful industrial glass roof, and from 6pm, he is at the bar and in the dining room to welcome his customers.
As a result, the furniture changes regularly with his creations, and if you fall in love with a piece in this unique showroom, all you have to do is place an order!
On the wine side, since that's what we're here for too, you'll find dry, fruity organic Corbières Blanc from Domaine de Montfin (€29 a bottle), organic Costière de Nîmes from Château d'Or et de Gueules (€29 a bottle), Egia Tegia (€33 a bottle) and Pic Saint-Loup from Domaine de Villeneuve (€37 a bottle).
To make sure you don't make a mistake, Assemblages is equipped with a Coravin, which allows you to taste a wine without having to remove the cork (yes, it's almost magic!). The best way to make the right choice before ordering!
We accompany our wine with tapas (from €6), a Canard plate (€19.50) featuring a fine slice of foie gras, rillettes, smoked duck breast and a bell pepper terrine, or a Nordique plate (€18) with old-fashioned smoked salmon.
And on Sundays, it's brunch (29€)! with a formula that includes a savory plate to choose from two proposals, a dessert, a fresh homemade fruit juice made with an extractor, unlimited coffee and tea and a lovely Norwegian waffle, flavored with cardamom.
Shall we organize our next aperitif there?
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
