If you live in the 10th arrondissement, check out Grand Quartier. Located on the rue de Nancy, this magnificent industrial-style building hides not only a hotel, but also a café, a beautiful lounge, a dining room, workspaces and a large terrace! We have to admit, once we were there, it was hard to get us to leave...

Paris's 10th arrondissement continues its metamorphosis... Located between Gare de l'Est, Château d'Eau and Jacques Bonsergent, Le Grand Quartier has decided to shake up the district's image, and it's quite successful. As well as an 83-room hotel, Le Grand Quartier Saint Martin is also a café, a lifestyle space, a garden and a bar... and promises to be the new trendy address in northern Paris.

Imagined by a duo of interior designers (the Nicemakers studio), the place has all the codes of hygge: velvet sofas, wood panelling and lamps here and there. Suffice to say, it's become our new favorite in the neighborhood, and it seems to be winning over the locals too.

When you arrive on rue de Nancy, there's nothing to suggest that a haven of peace is hiding behind the big white façade. You have to dare to go inside to find a hidden terrace with a nice plant life. From here, there are several entrances: on the left, the hotel entrance, and further on, the direct entrance to the shop and bar/café.

You enter through the shop, and from there, you discover a pretty counter, which opens onto a very large long room, with a large table seating 12 people, inviting sofas, corners with three armchairs but also 4 small tables seating four people. It's a bit like the living room everyone dreams of, where groups of all sizes find their own space!

We could spend hours here, with a cup of coffee, writing our articles or holding our meetings. And speaking of coffee, the Grand Quartier also has a café (yes, the salon isn't the "café", it's a space too!).

For its café, the Grand Quartier team contacted the"Grande Famille du Quartier", whose members include Romain and Sullivan from Le Syndicat, in charge of cocktail creation, and Thomas from La Brûlerie de Belleville, for coffee creation... From 7 a.m. onwards, the Grand Quartier welcomes hotel guests and local residents to discover their super dishes.

In the morning, it's a gourmet breakfast (unfortunately no formula, but very good healthy dishes!). Then, the daily menu completes the range. Here, it's more of a snack for the sharing side... Veal meatballs, falafels, kefta chicken wings and sweet potato fries, all for under 10 euros!

As for the rooms, Le Grand Quartier offers great facilities, in a rather youthful spirit reminiscent of the Mama Shelter. With a firm bed and large pillows, you'll fall asleep like a log. With surface areas ranging from 15m2 to 32m2, the rooms are very well designed. Some rooms have a bathtub, a little extra to keep an eye on when booking!

For working guests, the hotel has devised a takeaway breakfast service, included in the room rate. How does it work? You fill in a sheet of paper with your choices, and in the morning, you'll find juice, cereal bar and fruit right outside your door. In just a few minutes, you're on your way to the Gare de l'Est and the Grands Boulevards, ideal for sightseeing!

So, what are you waiting for to discover this new living space in Paris?

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
