Nestled on a charming Sentier square away from the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood, Edgar & Achille is the ideal boutique hotel for a restorative night's sleep.

Although the Sentier is known for its constant hustle and bustle, its ballet of deliveries to wholesalers, its lively terraces and its new addresses that come and go, there are certain pockets of calm in this cosmopolitan neighborhood, like the little triangular tree-lined square on which theEdgar & Achille hotel nestles.

Tranquility is the word that best describes this small boutique hotel in the 2nd arrondissement, with 49 rooms spread over 6 floors, offering a relaxing space right in the heart of the city. The welcome is warm, the atmosphere relaxed and the restfulness refreshing.

Owner Guillaume Rouget-Luchaire imagined the hotel as a human-scale establishment, with a colorful decor here and a colorful decor there. The result is a hotel far more original than its exterior would suggest, with a singular choice of colors and fabrics - like the tapestry in relief and texture in our pretty room.

The room is vast, bathed in natural light, and offers a view, after dark, of the illuminated Cairo Passage. The quality bedding ensures a king's sleep, as does thesoundproofing of the rooms, which guarantees a moment away from the hubbub of the city.

While the discovery ofEdgar & Achille largely ticked all the boxes for aquality hotel, the hotel's restaurant - located opposite the establishment - was less convincing. Service was minimal and rather casual, dishes arrived out of sync with the times, and the presentation was outdated - the two wilted salad leaves on top of the salmon gravelax (15€).

However, we have to admit that the meats are expertly cooked, as in the case of the Norman rib-eye steak with Kampot pepper sauce (26€) and the veal steak with chanterelle mushrooms (27€), as well as the large terrace , which spills out onto the square and is expected to be packed as soon as the sun comes out. Breakfast is also served here from 7 to 11 a.m., with a choice of gourmet formulas.

But if you're looking for something to eat, we can't recommend La Baignoire enough, just 5 minutes from the hotel. A bistronomic address well worth the detour.
