After the return of Burger King and the coming of Five Guys in Paris, it’s Steak’n Shake’s turn to storm the French capital. Here, we come as we are, without fuss. But in the plate, it’s another story. If the atmosphere is cool, it’s not about junk food but tasty premium burgers based on fresh ingredients.
Recipes follow one another but don’t look the same. Guacamole, mushroom and even veggie, burgers galore! You want a sure bet? You’ll go for the Signature Burger with a certified “Viande Bovine Française” [French Beef Meat] meat and melted cheddar. You want to go out of the beaten tracks? You can try the Jalapeño Crunch with its double steak, its Pepperjack cheese, its homemade salsa and its crispy onions and chipotle mayonnaise, without forgetting jalapeños, these Mexican peppers.
All in all, a dozen sandwiches are on the menu. In terms of sides, the choice remains complicated. We could almost think we are in 50 shades of French fries. They are available in plain version or served with Italian melted cheese, cooked with sea salt & grinded pepper, with vinegar and even with fresh herbs & Italian cheese.
And it’s the same down to the milkshakes based on artisanal ice creams. We find flavors rather classic such as chocolate, vanilla or strawberry as well as more surprising flavors such as Tarte Tropézienne or pistachio macaron. Available in normal or large version, be careful not to overrate your love for food: Steak’n Shake bets on quality but isn’t mean with quantities.
