Opened a little less than a year ago, the restaurant Les Carrés is proudly located at 60 rue saint Lazare, with its yellow chick sign. And proud they can be: it's not every day that you come across such a well revisited croque-monsieur and moreover at a low price!
Here, as Xavier explains, the cooking is simple but entirely home-made. The goal is to serve good food, at low prices, on the spot and to take away. So all the sauces are home made, the meats (French) are cooked on the spot, and the bread is specially made for Les Carrés by the bakery Maison Landemaine. The result is a square loaf of bread that is much lower in fat than a classic sandwich loaf.
As for the price, the lunch formulas are very reasonable, ranging from 9 to 13 euros. We choose the one at 11, with a pork loin with home-made barbecue sauce, red onions and Savoy tomme, a cauliflower and nutmeg soup and a big glass of home-made lemonade. Nothing to say, we are full and our taste buds are well satisfied!
Les Carrés is also open in the evening, in a more classic format that moves away from the fast food side of the restaurant. Your next restaurant discovery in Paris?
