Fancy an enchanted interlude in the heart of Paris's Golden Triangle? Head for theHôtel Barrière Le Fouquet's Paris, which is transforming the terrace of its Le Joy restaurant into a lush green field of poppies, away from the hustle and bustle of the Champs-Élysées, until the end of summer.
We love thepastoral ambience of this secret bucolic patio, a real hidden treasure where it's good to relax. On the program: a new gourmet menu designed by chef Mathieu Mecheri, accompanied by a colorful program of events.
Starters include Burrata de Rambouillet with artichoke cream and peppers, or Smoked Beet Carpaccio with condiments and Avruga caviar. For fish lovers, the Trout Gravlax with citrus lemon cream will make your taste buds travel. Leek Gyoza with angel hair chlorophyll juice, and Cucumber Soup glazed with coconut milk and crab crumble will delight lovers of light flavors.
Dishes include pearly-cooked cod with mint pea mousseline, bread-crusted scallops with coffee Jerusalem artichoke mousseline, and pistou gnocchi with tetragona, fine riquette and parmesan tuiles. Meat dishes are not to be outdone, with Beechwood-smoked Rack of Lamb and its mille-feuille of potatoes and multicolored cabbage, or Beef Tenderloin Heart with carrots in a méli-mélo sauce. Finally, the Comté-crusted Veal Sweetbread with white asparagus and shavings of Vin Jaune will satisfy even the most discerning gourmets.
To finish on a sweet note, we've fallen for Pastry Chef Anthony Coquereau 's mouth-watering desserts. These include the divine Signature Millefeuille, Lemon and its lemon leaf emulsion with pine nuts, Dark Chocolate Cuvée Xibun with its caramelized hazelnut, and the delicious Pain Perdu caramelized with Madagascar Vanilla.
From May 2, a DJ will host the Joy evenings from Wednesday to Saturday, 6pm to midnight (from 4pm on Saturdays). The musical program includes Shades every Wednesday, Deep Culture on Thursdays, and Sunset Ceremony on Fridays and Saturdays. Enjoy a festive interlude in Le Joy's secret garden, where you can hum along to the hits of the moment from a carefully selected program, while savoring the bold creations of Chef Barman Pierre Cortin.
The Shades evenings feature Paris DJ Poppie and her chic, energetic and nuanced selection of filtered house, new-disco, indie, deep and future funk. The Deep Culture evenings, meanwhile, invite the capital's most iconic turntable virtuosos to share their influences and history through a free and borderless musical journey, concocted "for music lovers, by music lovers".
Last but not least, the Sunset Ceremony evenings offer a weekend getaway in Joy's hidden garden. Cocktails, tasty food and a relaxed atmosphere, all enhanced by the evening lights. OG.F and his guests provide the soundtrack to these suspended moments, blending melodic and tribal house.
This summer, Le Joy is inviting everyone to enjoy a lively gourmet and festive experience, and of course, we approve. Between the wonderful discoveries on Mathieu Mecheri 's new summer menu and evenings hosted by talented DJs, we can't help but succumb to the temptation to take an enchanted break in this garden of poppies. Finally, if you're in the mood for a bit more wiggle, we'll round off the evening at Marta, the rooftop venue for festive evenings.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
