Right next door to Le Bouillon Racine, this Art Nouveau-style institution created in 1906 by the Chartier brothers between the Quartier Latin, Odéon and Saint Michel, has just opened Le Bar du Bouillon.
The wine and tapas bar welcomes you in a cosy setting, where you immediately feel at ease.
You can choose between classic tables, or the small lounge area where you can comfortably settle into armchairs.
We particularly appreciate the colorful and warm decoration of the place.
In the middle, a large bar and a beautiful wine cellar where you can discover some very good vintages.
Take a seat and let yourself be guided by Benjamin Buttner, a wine expert who helped us discover some delicious beverages.
Right-hand man to owner Luc Morand, his main concern is to make sure you have a good time. And the least we can say is that he's succeeded!
The wine list features no fewer than 250 references, classified by region of course, but above all highlighting the names of small and large producers.
To accompany these delicious beverages, there's a varied and tasty tapas menu.
We tried the sea urchin coral tarama from Comptoir du Caviar (9€), thehome-made duck foie gras (12€) and the pâté en croûte (7€), which our taste buds remember. There's also Cecina de Leon beef ham aged for 12 months (9€), or sea bass and scallop carpaccio with truffle oil (12€).
In terms of hot tapas, we were pleasantly surprised by theJapanese-style lacquered eel with Vénéré rice risotto (14€), and won over by the snacked Port en Bessin scallops with celery purée and truffle oil (12€).
If you prefer meat, let yourself be tempted by the lollipops of chicken lacquered with honey and lemongrass (8€) or the skewer of duck breast and foie gras from Maison Masse (12€).
Gourmets are not forgotten, with chocolate mousse (5€), crème brûlée (4€) and ice creams from Maison Pedone.
The Bar du Bouillon is one of our favorite addresses.
The place is warm and welcoming, and the wine and food lists are of the highest quality. All without breaking the bank.
Go there with your eyes closed!
