A wind of novelty blows on the Place Victor Hugo. The famous Parisian brasserie named after the French writer has just got a makeover. Taken over by Nicolas Richard, the place looks brand-new, friendly and resolutely more modern.
“Dusting off the faded image of the traditional brasserie” so was the goal set by the restaurateur already running several emblematic addresses (Hôtel Montaigne, Le Petit Marius, Chez Francis…). And what a success! The Brasserie Victor Hugo keeps the codes of the French brasserie but adds a bit of modernity and originality.
Thanks to the design by Richard Lafond, the place is appealing with high tables, typical tile, mosaics and even brass lamps.
As for the menu, the “Feel Good Brasserie” chose to highlight revisited and updated classics such as the irresistible and exquisite sausage-lentils, as well as pan-seared baby squids, Landes poultry breast, steamed salmon, leeks and vinaigrette, pâté en croute or even the delicious pork dish made in partnership with Olivier Brosset. For sweet-toothed, enjoy the very nice salted butter caramel, the smooth Toblerone chocolate mousse, the lemon meringue pie, or the citrus fruit salad and the roasted figs!
The other asset of the new Brasserie Victor Hugo is mixology. The place provides a nice list of signature cocktails inspired by the Prohibition era. Behind the beautiful bar, bartenders master recipes of these beverages such as the strong “Gainsbourg” based on Monkey Shoulder, Mount Gay, Dash Angostura, Bitter Orange, rum over proof with tangerine and cinnamon honey syrup.
Also go for the fruity “Joséphine Baker” based on Mount Gay Eclipse, pineapple juice, maracuja, Tonka bean syrup, lime and homemade ginger puree, or the spicy “Le Génie” (pepper-infused tequila, Vecindad tequila, smoked tea syrup, mango juice and top ginger beer), or the “Marquise des anges” (gin, Italicus liquor, homemade basil lemon mix and ginger beer). The bar also does in mocktails such as the “Maudit Français” (pear juice, maple syrup, winter spice and Ginger Ale).
Now, head to Paris 16th arrondissement to discover the new Brasserie Victor Hugo. The place welcomes you daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
