With its view of the golden dome of the Invalides and its long, sunny terrace, the D'Chez Eux restaurant has more than one good thing to offer you this summer. Discover its generous, gourmet local cuisine, which many international personalities, ambassadors, former and current presidents have enjoyed over the decades - including Jacques Chirac, known for his love of good food, and more recently Emmanuel Macron.
For over 50 years, D'Chez Eux has honored the great classics of French gastronomy, prepared with ultra-well-sourced local and regional products from renowned French producers: escargots from Burgundy, herring fillets from Petrossian, roast free-range chicken "la Coucou de Rennes" or cassoulet from l'Auberge.
Stepping foot in D'Chez Eux is like stepping back in time to traditional bistros, with red and white Vichy check tablecloths and waiters in aprons, minus the dustiness.
In the kitchen, chef Bertrand Gautreau, behind the stoves at D'Chez Eux since 1992, is hard at work, and we at the table are in for a treat. Starters include a delicious homemade poultry pâté (22€) with a generous foie gras insert and crunchy hazelnuts, fresh frog legs pan-fried in garlic (42€), and to top it all off, a selection of devilishly porky cochonailles de l'Auberge (29€).
What's next? Get your taste buds ready, because there's a real treat in store, with the traditional and oh-so-ubiquitous cassoulet de l'Auberge en marmite (35€) gratinéed to perfection, and coq au vin de Brouilly (35€) served in a saucepan directly on the table, so you can help yourself to every last drop of the excellent sauce right from the container.
The dishes are so generously served that we've decided to skip the desserts (!), but if you get the urge, you should know that the old-fashioned Paris-Brest is rumored to be a marvel.
Looking for a diner in a typical setting with exciting French dishes? Now you know where to go.
