"Tanguera is a woman dancing the tango", explains Lorena, the restaurant's creator,"this dance is so masculine that I wanted to make it more feminine". Here, she and her team welcome you to a cosy, softly-lit setting, where you can meet up with friends or lovers... with specialities from across the Atlantic, from northern Argentina to Patagonia, via Peru.
From milanesas napoletanas - breaded beef or chicken cutlets served au gratin with tomato and cheese - traditionally served in Buenos Aires, to tiraditos de gambas (lightly smoked prawns served with a Peruvian yellow pepper sauce, grilled quinoa, avocado...).) eaten in Peru, to Locro, a spicy meat and dried bean stew enjoyed on special occasions, the menu revisits the must-try dishes of Argentine and Peruvian cuisine, prepared by Carlos and Emiliana.
On the drinks side, cocktails feature recipes composed in part of mezcal, tequila, pisco, mixed with passion fruit and other exotic fruits: the menu also includes some great non-alcoholic options, with Virgin Mojito passion, strawberry, mango, or classic (from €9 to €14 per cocktail).
For starters, don't miss the empanadas, small savory turnovers filled with cheese, spinach, beef... fried, or the vitello tonnato, a thinly sliced veal starter with a tuna, anchovy and caper sauce, traditionally served at Christmas in Argentina. All the meats come from Argentina, and if you're familiar with the Santa Carne address - where Lorena is also one of the three partners - which specializes in Argentinian grilled meats, the supplier is the same.
Finally, to end the meal on a sweet note, the menu offers a beautiful Arroz con leche ( rice pudding with cinnamon, as it is traditionally cooked in Peru), mi-cuit with dulce de leche, pears with Malbec...
On the plate, you'll find generous cuisine - in terms of taste, quality of produce and portions - and impeccable service (provided by Luis Carlos, on the left in the photo, or Lorena), who will be delighted to show you the menu and explain the various specialities. A wonderful address, perfect for a date, a romantic dinner or a special occasion to celebrate with friends!
