Recently taken over by a brother and sister, Aux Crus de Bourgogne, previously in the same family for 4 generations, has a new lease on life, with a completely revamped interior - while retaining its charm, authentic counter, mirrors, wood-panelled walls and storefront overlooking a quiet street in the Montorgueil district.
At lunchtime on weekdays, you can enjoy a €20 menu on the large terrace. Otherwise, the brand-new summer menu features classic French dishes, skilfully executed. Snails, eggs mayonnaise, frogs' legs, beef tartar, shallot onglet, cod with beurre blanc, homemade mashed potatoes... Traditional French cuisine in all its splendor, which immediately justifies why the address wasAndré Malraux 's landmark in his day.
In the sunshine that day, we fall for the starter of the day, generous mimosa eggs (8€). A fine appetizer before the dish of the day, which we can't resist, the excellent sole meunière (39€), served in the purest tradition and raised in front of you by the waiter. For dessert, we opt for the house classic, the Grand Marnier soufflé (14€), generous with Grand Marnier and as light as a cloud. Happiness at the end of a spoon.
In September, the Aux Crus de Bourgogne restaurant will be offering a selection of savory (comté, truffle) and sweet (caramel, seasonal red fruit) soufflés, for fans of these airy treats. And in a few months' time, the restaurant will also unveil private lounges upstairs, where friends and family can enjoy traditional dishes in an authentic setting.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
