Enter YO' Mac And Cheese and you'll feel as if you've traveled across the Atlantic, landing in New York to sample its incomparable macaroni and cheese, a traditional American dish as much at home as the hamburger. This restaurant in the 20th arrondissement, just a stone's throw from Père Lachaise, celebrates hip-hop culture in every way, from the meticulous decor to the names of the dishes, which are particularly well chosen. But here, it's French-style macaroni, with fresh, high-quality PDO cheeses from our region!
Chaource, Tomme de Savoie, Brie de Meaux, Roquefort... While the classic cheddar cheese is obviously on the menu, macaroni is revisited in abundance, offering an unprecedented, comforting taste experience. It's just a question of which Mac you're going to fall for, since there's so much to choose from! Cheese and rap are on the menu, with recipes named after urban culture legends: Tupac Chaource, Eminemental, Fifty Chèvre!
You can stick to the classics, with melted AND au gratin cheddar, herb-infused cream, or venture into more surprising combinations, with spinach, walnuts, Bleu d'Auvergne cheese... You can also spice up your Mac & Cheese with vegetables, meat (available in halal versions), honey, cheese, chives, chilli pepper... And don't forget the vegan option, with lactose-free cream, broccoli and faux-mage. You can also choose between the French and American sizes, for an extra four euros - and clearly, only hungry stomachs will put up with the latter!
We opted for the small stomach version, and tested an original and a classic: the Straight outta Comptome, with Tomme de Savoie cheese, zucchini and onions (11 euros) and the Ol' Dirty Cheddar (7.50 euros). Two already generous must-tries, a pure delight! As for desserts, you'll also find a taste of America, with brownies, cookies, muffins, cheesecakes and carrot cakes, not forgetting the famous milkshake, all homemade!
In true hip-hop spirit, this unique restaurant features the work of several street artists and their redesigned salvaged furniture, the sale of which in part benefits charitable associations. Hip-hop culture means solidarity! So you can take the table or chair you ate on back to your Parisian living room.
In short, top-quality, totally affordable street food in an extraordinary setting!
