As part of the Journées du Patrimoine 2024, we're invited to discover the museum and gardens of the Domaine départemental de Sceaux . For an entire weekend, on September 21 and 22, 2024, this estate is opening its doors to the public free of charge, to enable us to discover the treasures hidden in this historic monument.
Between the museum, home to true masterpieces, and the Parc de Sceaux, designed in the 17th century by Le Nôtre, you'll have plenty of wonderful experiences. These gardens are jewels of French garden design. Two main axes run through it, from east to west: the allée d'honneur, the parterre du château and the terrasse des Pintades, and from north to south: the cascade and the Bassin de l'Octogone.
While the park has preserved structures dating back to the 17th century, such as the Grand Canal, the Pavillon de l'Aurore and the Bassin de l'Octogone, Colbert's château, demolished around 1803, was replaced by a neo-Louis XIII-style château, built between 1856 and 1862 by architect Le Soufaché. Parterres de broderies (embroidered flowerbeds) with wild, landscaped or even forested atmospheres.
The Pavillon de l'Aurore invites visitors to the Parc Départemental de Sceaux to relax and contemplate its splendid dome, painted by Charles Le Brun in 1672.
Mediators will be on hand to help you discover the museum's masterpieces and answer any questions you may have.
Get on your bikes, or follow in the footsteps of this collective of 18 chamber musicians on their bikes!
The procession will start at 2pm in front of the Pavillon de l'Aurore, then make its way to the Hemicycle (next to Le Nôtre's garden) before heading off to a secret location for a final concert conducted by Raphaël Merlin from 4:30pm.
Organized by the festival Les Concerts de l'Orangerie de Sceaux in conjunction with the exhibition Roues libres, la grande histoire du vélo, held in the Orangerie of the Domaine départemental de Sceaux until December 31, 2024.
With friends or family, come and discover or rediscover two films about bicycles, the central theme of the exhibition Roues libres. La grande histoire du vélo, currently on show in the Orangerie of the Domaine départemental de Sceaux:
At 8pm, the evening begins with the animated film Les Triplettes de Belleville (Sylvain Chaumet, 2003), followed at 9:40pm by Le Vélo de Ghislain Lambert (Philippe Harel, 2001), starring Benoît Poelvoorde, José Garcia and the voice of Antoine de Caunes.
Synopsis of the film Les Triplettes de Belleville:
Champion, a reserved young boy, lives with his grandmother. His grandmother notices his passion for cycling and his obvious talent for the sport. She arranges for him to undergo intensive training. As the years went by, the young Champion soon became a top-level racer, taking part in the prestigious Tour de France. During the race, however, he is abducted by two mysterious men in black. The grandmother, accompanied by her faithful dog Bruno, decides to set off in search of him. She crosses the ocean and ends up in a gigantic city: Belleville!
Synospsis of the film Le Vélo de Ghislain Lambert:
Ghislain Lambert (Benoît Poelvoorde), a cyclist without much talent, dreams of becoming a champion. He manages to join a professional team, the prestigious Magicrème. The team manager's instructions are clear: you must sacrifice yourself for the leader. Ghislain, who dreams of a podium finish, finds it difficult to accept his status as a "water-carrier". With the help of a teammate, Riccardo, he buys doping products. Excluded from Magicrème for his crime, he then races under the tutelage of his brother, Claude (José Garcia). Some time later, he is miraculously selected to take part in the Tour de France...

To celebrate the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Musée du Domaine Départemental de Sceaux is staging a major exhibition devoted to the history of cycles, from the pedal-less draisienne invented in the early 19th century to today's sports and leisure activities.
An exceptional collection of 25 vintage cycles is on display, alongside old posters, photographs, costumes and toys. Among the objects of curiosity is a steam-powered velocipede by Louis-Guillaume Perreaux (1816-1889), dating from 1870-1871: a unique example considered to be the very first motorcycle in history!
Mediators will be on hand throughout the exhibition to answer any questions you may have.
A great way to spend this special weekend in the Hauts-de-Seine! Shall we go, friends?
